CNC short-turned parts. Economical, complex, precise.

Short, complex turned parts manufactured economically in small and large series. Also as complementary machining to Swiss-type parts.

CNC Short Turning

Short, complex turned parts manufactured economically – in any lot size, also as a complement to Swiss-type turning.

Alongside Swiss-type turning we operate modern CNC fixed headstock lathes for parts that can be manufactured more economically with this process. Short turning plays to its strengths with geometrically complex, shorter workpieces.

The combination of Swiss-type and short turning under one roof allows us to choose the right process for every part – without you having to coordinate multiple suppliers.

Typical parts: flanges, bushing assemblies, coupling components, threaded pieces.

Frequently asked questions

FAQ on CNC short-turned parts.

When is short turning more economical than Swiss-type turning?+
At a length-to-diameter ratio below approx. 1.5 and for complex, compact parts with many machining operations on the same piece.
Which diameters do you machine in short turning?+
Typically Ø 10 to 42 mm. Part length usually 5 to 80 mm.
Can you combine Swiss-type and short turning?+
Yes. If a part has a long, thin main feature and a complicated flange end, we combine both processes – saving machining time and setups.
How precise is the repeatability in short turning?+
On modern fixed headstock lathes with sub-spindle we achieve dimensional repeatability in the micron range – within the specified tolerances without scatter for standard series.
Is short turning also worthwhile for small batches?+
Yes, from a lot size of approx. 50 pieces. Setup costs are shown transparently.
Which parts are classic short-turning applications?+
Flanges, bushing assemblies, coupling components, threaded pieces, special nuts, compact connector components.
